About the CACBT Clinical Consultant List
What is the CACBT-ACTCC Consultation List?
The CACBT-ACTCC Consultation List is a member-only benefit that connects CACBT members with experienced, CACBT certified members for clinical consultation.
To be listed as a consultant, the applicant must attest to meeting the following criteria:
Be a certified member of CACBT in good standing (i.e., membership dues are up-to-date);
They have practiced cognitive-behavioural therapy for a minimum of five years post-licensure/registration. This is defined as having provided at least 1000 direct client hours.
They have received at least 150 hours of clinical supervision and/or consultation (this may be pre- or post-licensure/registration).
They have provided supervision and/or consultation to a minimum of three mental health providers who are licensed/registered to provide psychotherapy (or students in professions that are licensed/registered to provide psychotherapy) for a minimum of 50 hours total (split among the mental health professionals).
They have completed at least 10 hours of training (e.g., readings, courses, workshops, supervision/consultation of their supervision/consultation) in the provision of evidence-based supervision/consultation.

Although consultants may provide similar services as a clinical supervision, consultation and clinical supervision are not the same thing. During clinical supervision, the supervisor assumes legal and clinical responsibility for clients of the supervisee. In contrast, consultants are not legally and/or clinically responsible for the work of those to whom they consult. Consultation typically takes place after a consultee is already a licensed/registered and an independent practitioner.
-
No problem! If you no longer wish to be on the consultation list, simply email us at info@cacbt.ca and your name will be removed. Please note, some processing time will be required for your request.
-
Please note that the consultants listed on the consultation list have not been evaluated as such by CACBT-ACTCC. CACBT-ACTCC bears no responsibility for their work. CACBT-ACTCC assumes no liability or responsibility for any errors or omissions in the list and further disclaims any liability of any nature for any loss whatsoever caused in connection with consulting with the individuals listed.
CACBT-ACTCC makes no representations or warranties concerning the specific quality of the services provided by these consultants. CACBT-ACTCC may remove consultants from the list and change the information on this page at any time without notice.
It is strongly recommended to both consultees and consultants alike that a consultation agreement/contract be drawn up and signed prior to beginning any consultation work. Please note that in contrast to supervisors, consultants are not legally and/or clinically responsible for the work of those to whom they consult. Consultation typically takes place after a consultee is already a licensed/registered and an independent practitioner.
