2nd Annual Conference

May 4-5, 2012

University of Regina - Concordia University

Conference Chair:
Heather Hadjistavropoulos

CACBT-ACTCC hosted the 2nd Annual Conference, which took place at University of Regina in Regina, Saskatchewan on May 4-5, 2012.

The conference’s mission was “to provide high quality accessible education that prepared learners for productive and creative lives”. It was also consistent with the mission of the U of R “to support innovative research and scholarship to expand human knowledge and support social development.” This conference specifically responded to the needs of Saskatchewan people in the realm of mental health. Holding this conference at the U of R also supported CACBT-ACTCC’s mission to engage with and serve communities, local, provincial, and beyond.

Dr. Martin Antony was the primary speaker at the conference. He gave an all-day workshop on the Transdiagnostic Treatment of Anxiety Disorders. In addition to the workshop, there was a round table discussion which took place with Dr. Heather Hadjistavropoulos (CACBT President) and Dr. Adam S. Radomsky (CACBT Past President) a well as Dr. Naomi Koerner
(CACBT Communications & Advocacy Chair). These discussions centred on strategies to advocate for greater access to Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). Information was also presented on how individuals could become CACBT credentialed in CBT.

In summary, the 2012 CACBT-ACTCC Annual Conference was a great success. We thank our presenters, the CACBT-ABTCC Board, the conference organizing committee, the volunteers who ensured a smooth running of the conference, and to all the CACBT-ACTCC members who attended.
